Smart Lock Battery Maintenance Guide
Most smart locks rely on batteries. Good battery habits reduce access problems and help protect the lock electronics.
Battery Care
- Use fresh, high-quality batteries recommended for your lock model.
- Replace all batteries at the same time instead of mixing old and new batteries.
- Do not use leaking, swollen, rusty, or damaged batteries.
- Check the battery compartment regularly for moisture or leakage.
- Replace batteries when the lock gives a low-battery warning.
Backup Access
Keep the mechanical key in a safe place outside the locked room. If your lock supports emergency power through a USB port or external battery contact, learn where it is before an emergency happens.
When Traveling
If you will be away for a long period, replace weak batteries before you leave and make sure someone trusted has backup access where appropriate.
